LOOK Climate Lab 2024: All Events

LOOK Climate Lab is a biennial programme exploring how photography can be a relevant and powerful medium for talking about climate change. Starting from 18 January 2024, we’ll transform the gallery into a lab: bringing together researchers and artists to test their ideas and encouraging our audiences to discuss systematic changes needed for dealing with the climate crisis.

Join us through the changing seasons to explore the trees and species of Sefton Park with Andrea Ku

SHIFT LIVERPOOL OPEN MEETING

An opportunity for the public to hear about what Liverpool’s cultural organisations are doing together to become more sustainable, and for artists and freelancers in the city to connect with the network.

Learn how to make cyanotypes and tone them with sustainable botanical toners.

An engaging discussion on expanded photography and the (hauntological) potential of AI.

BOOK LAUNCH: WHAT THE MINE GIVES, THE MINE TAKES

A journey to decipher the hidden predatory logic within the mechanisms of gold mining exploitation  and the resulting socio-ecological devastation in the Guayana and Venezuela’s Amazon regions.

CONTRAIL CIRRUS

An open discussion on the impact of aviation on climate change, with a particular focus on the effects of contrail cirrus.

EROSION: PANEL DISCUSSION

Can post conflict waste be reused, recycled and more importantly reduced, can we recover and learn? Specifically, how does the unique rubble beach at Crosby continue to affect our natural coastal environment?

LOCAL ECOLOGY IN THE POST-INDUSTRIAL ERA: OPEN DISCUSSION

How art, science and their intertwining allow us to come to a deeper understanding and appreciation of our natural environment.
