Open Call: Platform zine

Hero image

‘Gather everyone,

gather all together, overlooking none,

here’s hopin’ life gets better for the world’

– Harvest for the World, The Isley Brothers, 1976

In the midst of vast social, ecological and political change, we are asking for photographers, artists and writers alike, to contribute their own unique and diverse modes of self expression to the eighth issue of the Open Eye Gallery volunteer-led PLATFORM Zine.

You can submit works of photography, mixed media, and poetry.

At this point in the project our theme spans a wide range of topics surrounding;

  • The decline of our local ecological and agricultural landscapes alongside our greater global climate crisis.
  • Our increasing dependency on technology and how that may be impacting our ability to connect with the people in our communities, or indeed how it is starting to alter our individual sense of self.

We greatly encourage contributions that may not directly conform to the aforementioned subjects, as we understand that there is no such thing as a right or wrong interpretation!

We are also appreciative of artists who utilise techniques that are sustainable and focus on practising methods of non-digital formats such as film, cyanotypes, etc. After all, we are trying to depend less on tech! Although Open Eye Gallery specialises in photographic exhibitions, we strongly encourage mixed media artists to submit their work, and for literary voices to contribute their written work (poems, short stories, etc) which can be personally recited during our launch event!

The deadline for this open call is Sunday 25th of October at Midnight (23.59).

How to submit

Please email your submission to platform@openeye.org.uk with the email subject Open Call 2026.
