VR: “There is an I…” – UCEN, Manchester
2 July - 5 July 2022
BA Hons Photography with Social Practice – UCEN, Manchester, with Open Eye Gallery
Open Eye Gallery is proud to present an exhibition of new talent graduating from B.A. Photography and Social Practice, developed in partnership with UCEN, Manchester.
Photography is now central to communication. 3.2 billion photographs are shared everyday on social media – we choose what dress to buy or holiday to take by comparing photographs, we relate to the experiences of friends and family looking at their photographs.
Good images pull us into news stories or other feeds and additional photographs – by revealing more – often keep us there. Photographers with flair, knowledge and technical expertise have agency.
The title of the exhibition “There is an I…” comes from a quote by George Carlin, American stand-up comedian, actor, author, and philosopher, the full quote reads “Somewhere along the way, someone is going to tell you, ‘There is no ‘I’ in team.’ What you should tell them is, ‘Maybe not. But there is an ‘I’ in independence, individuality and integrity.”
The featured level 5 students:
Anna Wijnhoven
Alessia Arpino
Jordan Harrison
Michael Collier
Phoebe Goddard
