Solace in the City @ DWG
5 May - 21 May 2023
An exhibition by UCEN Manchester BA Photography students Paul Odusanya, Molly Wright, and Aurelia Mermier at the Digital Window Gallery.
We are honoured to present our projects in collaboration with the Open Eye Gallery. We were grateful to be given the opportunity to select and photograph separate venues and work collaboratively with them to create these photographic pieces. We worked in response to the collective theme of ‘Home’ and kept this central to the project.
Home has a unique meaning in everyone’s heart: comfort, somewhere to relax, to enjoy food, to drink and choose to engage in conversation or enjoy one’s own company. Our projects individually delve into coveying a sense of ‘Home‘ to our audience through intimate imagery of our chosen venues.
Paul Odusanya’s close-up digital shots give us a detailed perspective on the historical decoration and the stories inside Shenanigan’s Irish Bar.
In Molly Wright’s images, we see an array of beautifully taken black and white portraits, it allows us to have a personal view of the venue, by using a medium format camera giving an in-depth depiction of life in “The Brink’ – a place for recovering addicts to socialise and build connections.
Aurelia Mermier’s colourful, elegant, and bold digital pictures of the cosy
interior and greenery at Dead Ink Books gives the audience a glimpse inside the unique independent venue, that holds a quiet, welcoming atmosphere within.
We hope you enjoy our collective exhibition ‘Solace in the City’
