LOOKBOOK CLUB: THE OVERSTORY BY RICHARD POWERS, Pages 1-28
THURS 25 AUG 5–6PM
BOOK FREE TICKETS HERE
Join us at Open Eye Gallery for our LOOKBOOK Club as part of LOOK Photo Biennial 2022: Climate. We will be exploring the first segments of The Overstory by Richard Powers titled ROOTS and NICHOLAS HOEL, pages 1-28 and the overlapping themes and ideas between the Biennial and the book.
The Overstory focuses on activism and the recognition of how important nature is to the human world, which can often feel separate. This is a story of how individual people can be brought together to show us the broader picture of nature and our place in it, with the role of trees at the centre of this conversation. The Overstory is a reminder of how tightly our fate is tied to that of nature.
To celebrate our first LOOKBOOK CLUB, we’re offering 3 free copies of The Overstory (** Raffle Now Closed).
You can also pick up a copy from local bookshop News From Nowhere.
LOOK Photo Biennial 2022: Climate builds upon the research and findings from our LOOK Climate Lab (January – March 2022) earlier this year and reminds us how photography and visual art can communicate the climate emergency in accessible ways, by transcending languages, borders and cultures.
Both LOOK and The Overstory examine our attitudes towards the natural landscape, hinting at an imagined future, while recognising the beauty and natural wealth of resources we have on our planet. We are inviting you to join us for our special book club session, where we will examine The Overstory as it intersects with the Look Photo Biennial 2022: Climate.
