Liverpool Food Growers Network: Rethinking our Food System
9 March - 12 March 2022
With rising concerns over climate change, unsustainable land-use, complex supply chains and growing food insecurity, questions about where and how we grow our food are becoming increasingly significant. Reintegrating food production into our urban areas can help reduce these pressures by bringing food production closer to sites of consumption. The Liverpool Food Growers Network is a collaboration between 25 community food growing spaces across the Liverpool City Region, all striving to improve the local environment, shorten lengthy supply-chains, empower communities, and enhance biodiversity. The network also aims to increase education around urban agriculture and food waste, and tackle food insecurity by distributing fresh, healthy and locally grown food to the people who need it most.
Join us for a series of interactive workshops organised by food growers from across the Liverpool City Region. These include windowsill growing, beekeeping, composting, wellbeing and food growing, a step-by-step guide on developing your own community garden, and designing your future food neighbourhood. These workshops aim to highlight the incredible food growing projects that are happening across Liverpool, and explores how we reimagine our urban landscape to make Liverpool a resilient, fair and sustainable food city.
