Digital Window Gallery: Tabitha Jussa

17 October - 6 November 2021

Tabitha Jussa presents Agency of Women, a series of portraits produced during her time as Artist in Residence at Hardman’s House.

Edward Chambré and Magaret Hardman ran a photographic business from Bold Street, and later from their house at 59 Rodney Street. The ‘Hardman portrait’ became a coveted badge of social status in Liverpool.

Currently exhibiting at the National Trust property on Rodney Street, Agency of Women offers a different approach to documentary photography, bridging the gap between contemporary and traditional photography. It features women at the heart of Liverpool’s cultural scene today, makers and managers who share many of Margaret’s qualities and talents.

In this Digital Window Gallery exhibition, archive images of Hardman’s studio portraits are paired with Jussa’s own portraits to explain the creative journey and histories that Jussa’s explored during her time as Artist in Residence.

Visit the Agency of Women exhibition at Hardman’s House, 59 Rodney Street, Liverpool.

Supported by Arts Council England.
