2005年,Derek Man从香港搬到了英国。他的作品旨在探究文化认同以及我们所说的“家”——我们如何形成地域感,以及什么才能让我们有归属感。

利物浦中国城是欧洲最古老中国社区的所在地。经过几年利物浦和香港的海上贸易,人口已经十分繁荣,说粤语的人可以从这里追溯到他们的祖先。

最新的系列探索了利物浦老一代的中国家庭,包括他们对中国城的认同感和地域感。这些家庭的范围从已经在利物浦居住了50年的家庭到去年刚刚移民到利物浦的家庭。

Derek与电影制作人Tobias Brebner合作,将肖像画与家庭照片和视频融为一体。这一系列作品将在Museum of Liverpool的门厅数字展览中展出。

作为此系列的一部分,他们同时也制作了一个短纪录片,这段纪录片会在10月19日周日下午14:00在Museum of Liverpool的Education Area 3播放。
