Love Is An Action: Black History Panel
Love Is An Action: Black History is a live panel discussion between Layla Hussain, Nompumelelo Ncube and Anthony Wilde, chaired by Mariama Attah.
In the wake of the Black Lives Matter protests that took place across the world in the Spring of 2020, Open Eye Gallery invited creative practitioners of colour to take over our Instagram account for week long residencies under the theme of ‘Love Is An Action’. They acted as curators and researchers, shaping the agenda for conversations online and broadening Open Eye Gallery’s knowledge of diverse artists, projects and discussions in the UK and further afield.
Now, as we reflect on the movement enters its sixth month, we ask our Love Is An Action residents to re-share their work and reflect on how online platforms were used to shape the movement, how their approaches and feelings may have shifted since their residencies, and what their imaginings are for the future.
