This online discussion will be streamed live to TWITCH .on Tuesday 8 November at 6PM.
More about the project:
During 2021 artist duo McCoy Wynne were selected from an open call to undertake a residency with Energy House at the University of Salford, working closely with the team to document, interpret and respond to both the unique facility and the themes of climate, energy use and environment.
The resulting photo series Are You Living Comfortably? (on display at New Adelphi Exhibition Gallery, Salford, 10 Oct – 23 Dec) is an example of ‘how the imagination of art can interpret the discovery of science’.
Energy House (and new facility, Energy House 2) are world-leading research facilities, playing a key role in accelerating progress towards low carbon and net zero housing design, through extensive research projects. The full-size, brick-built houses inside large chambers are tested under a range of environmental conditions – from simulated wind, rain, snow and solar radiation to extreme cold and heat.
The Energy House residency project was delivered in partnership by the University of Salford Art Collection, Open Eye Gallery, Liverpool, and Energy House.
A new residency programme at Energy House 2 will be announced in Autumn 2022.
