Cyanotype Workshop with Edd Carr
FRIDAY 25 FEBRUARY / 12–3PM / BOOK HERE
Cyanotype is a historic photographic process that has been used for over 150 years, invented in 1842 by John Herschel. Since its inception, artists, photographers, and printmakers have taken advantage of its easy application, affordability, and relative sustainability – creating a thriving subculture of cyanotype enthusiasts. The vibrant blue aesthetic is known around the world – popularised by artists including Anna Atkins, Robert Rauschenberg, and Kate Cordsen.
Artist Edd Carr has extensive experience in making cyanotypes – as well as adapting them into an animation process. This workshop will lead participants from start to finish in creating their own cyanotypes, as well as some discussion on how to adapt the process to create short moving image sequences. Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to easily make their own cyanotypes.
