Join Andrea Ku for a guided walk of Sefton Park, with its bee population in focus.
Meeting at the cafe by Eros Fountain in Sefton Park, this guided walk lead by Andrea Ku will take you through Sefton Park to learn about about the different bees that call Sefton Park their home or foraging place.
You’ll learn about the 3 types of bees and from this, the 250+ species in the UK and how urban parks, such as Sefton Park, are on of the few places they depend on throughout the year. We will visit some solitary bee nests in the park and look to identify the differences between the 3 species of bees and how they live.
We have 30 make your own solitary bee houses to give away – thanks to Mike Cosgrove for the support from the sales of his Sefton Park nature calendar!
Andrea Ku is the Chair of the Friends of Sefton Park and the founder of B4Biodiversity, a group of people who aim to raise the awareness of urban biodiversity through educational, practical and creative projects, eg. landscape design & building, beekeeping training, horticulture & gardening, arts projects and more. She is also an artist in her own right, taking on a facilitator’s role in her approach to making work.
This walk is taking place outside, please dress for the weather and bring a waterproof! Please wear comfortable shoes which you don’t mind getting muddy.
