Open Eye Gallery Announces New Director of Development and Partnerships, Arts Leader Tracy Marshall

Open Eye Gallery is delighted to announce the appointment of Tracy Marshall as Director of Development and Partnerships to continue the leading photography organisation’s growth. Tracy Marshall has stepped down as Director of Belfast Exposed – Northern Ireland’s leading photography gallery – to join the team at a pivotal time for the gallery following a funding uplift from Arts Council England and an expansion in the scale of the programme.

Tracy has an impressive track record as an arts leader. Well respected in the photography sector internationally, she also brings experience of the wider sector having directed and led the development and income generation departments of a number of other large arts and third sector organisations across Ireland and the UK.

Earlier this year, Open Eye Gallery took over LOOK Liverpool International Photography Festival, a biennial programme of contemporary photography based around international exchange. Working with Director Sarah Fisher, Tracy Marshall will lead development of resources and partnerships to expand the scope of the festival, bolstering Liverpool’s position as an international city for photographers.

Sarah Fisher, Director of Open Eye Gallery said:

“We couldn’t be more pleased with attracting someone of Tracy’s calibre to join the team.  She’s well-known in the world of photography, and is a respected and charismatic leader.

“Tracy’s  joining us at a crucial chapter in Open Eye Gallery’s history. Last year we marked its 40th year with a successful programme of exhibitions and events, achieving record visitor figures on and off-site. We also co-delivered LOOK/17, working with artists and curators in the UK and Hong Kong to showcase the best of international photography.

“For LOOK/19 we’re going to focus on mainland China, helping to build international mutual understanding through an excellent programme of events and exhibitions in Liverpool. I’m excited to have Tracy Marshall working alongside me to make this happen.”

Tracy Marshall said:

“I’m thrilled to be joining Open Eye Gallery’s team. Worldwide, photography is something that we’re all engaging with more and more every day, and a big part of the organisation’s work is about exploring how we can use it to challenge, inspire and continually foster understanding of other cultures. I look forward to developing Open Eye Gallery’s position as a global force for excellent, meaningful photography.”

Tracy will take up her role in late February. She will be based at the gallery on the Liverpool Waterfront.
