Video: Lindsay Taylor, Co-Curator, Culture Shifts: Global
As Art Curator, Lindsay Taylor is responsible for developing the University of Salford Art Collection. She commissions new works and establishes key partnerships with art organisations, increasing the cultural profile of the University. In this role she has commissioned work from regional and international artists including Cao Fei, Declan Clarke and Brass Art.
Working with Open Eye Gallery and LOOK/ 17 Liverpool International Photography Festival curator Ying Kwok, she jointly commissioned Luke Ching’s residency in Liverpool. Luke Ching, an artist based in Hong Kong, turned an entire hotel room in Liverpool’s Titanic Hotel into a pinhole camera, producing large-scale haunting day-long exposures of the views from each window.
The work is on show as part of Culture Shifts: Global at Open Eye Gallery until 18th June. After the exhibition, it will enter the University of Salford’s growing Art Collection.
